Look at the City Folk

Today Jes and I went to the big city of Thessalon for an auction. For those of you who don’t know, Thessalon is located about an hour from here and the population is approximately 1500.

After we got to the auction, saw that we liked some stuff and decided we were staying I went on a mission to get us some food as it was still early in the morning (for me anyway, it was almost 11 :S). I walked onto “Main St.” to see what I could see. Jes wanted some chips and juice so I took my first trip into the pharmacy and beside that was a bakery so I thought I’d go in there to see what sort of treats I could find for myself… I was hoping for donuts. After leaving the pharmacy and walking the short distance to the pharmacy I experienced what every single character in a horror movie that occurs in a small town has experienced.

I walked inside the bakery and the “regulars” all turned around and looked at me with that face that simply says “who are you, you’re not from ’round these parts”. The kind woman behind the counter had that quirky “looks too innocent but must be the serial killer smile.” It was certainly a funny moment for myself and if you want to see the faces of the regulars in the place I’ll gladly show you if you ask.

The bigger twist is I just applied (as of Thursday) for a job in Thessalon as a Web Based Application Developer and if I get that job this “city boy” might be spending some more time in that bakery.

Also, I did get my donuts and they were mighty fine donuts.

We also landed a couple of chairs in the auction. One which I’m claiming as mine is a recliner and ottoman that we got for $30 and the other is an oak chair that we got for $15. Jes then bid on a mirror that looked pretty good from far away, unfortunately after she won it we found out it was crappier but hey it’s a mirror.
