Well, it looks like Rotaryfest has finally caught onto the original music scene here in the Soo and is giving the artists/bands in town a shot to display their talents on a stage devoted strictly for original music.

For the past couple of years there’s been a “secondary” stage setup outside of the Memorial Gardens where these artists performed but the location was so far away from the main action and excitement of the main days of the show they might as well of been playing in a different city. This year the powers that be have finally put them in a location where they might actually get noticed, it might actually seem like a planned event and something going on, hopefully this will bring a new audience to these hard working musicians. They’re still not on the main stage but now they’re only a block away, maybe in a couple of years they’ll make it there.

The stage will be located on the grassy area located in front of the Civic Centre, to the east of Northern Breweries and to the south of Tim Hortons. Now how does that not say location, location, location to you? The show starts at 5 PM on Thursday July 14th and runs until midnight (even though the official site says noon — now that’d be a party). The schedule informs of who is playing and at what time. Try to check it out.

For some “straight from the horses mouth” views on the event Craig West of Startlefish has his views on his blog and Chris Belsito has a news story up on his site as well.
