Woohoo! We Have an NHL Season (Maybe)

I think I lucked out and checked TSN just as the story broke. Pending ratification (a vote by the players for approval as well as the governors) the deal is done, the ratification is schedule to take place next week. All of this will lead into some interesting times.

Players are going to be dropped from their current teams and picked up by others to fit the salary cap, a draft lottery will be held so that they can hold a draft and anyone who is involved in hockey pools will be rejoicing and following all the happenings.

Speaking of which — now I get to get my ass in gear, follow all the happenings and put together a brand new hockey pool site for the one we hold each year. I don’t know what I’m more excited about, the fact that hockey is back or the fact I get to create another new site for the hockey pool trying out some new things etc.

Either way this is good news. Welcome back hockey. I just hope that not too many people have left it (cough cough, in the US, cough).

Also new rule changes are possibly coming in including no red line (European rule), shoot outs to decide tie games and a possibility of 20 teams in the playoffs instead of 16.

This week just possibly is one hell of a week for me.

I think hockey players should have to pass an I.Q test before they are able to make a million dollars a year

I know im ranting alot, but also get rid of every team in the NHL thats south of New Jersey. And also a team’s name should be pluralized. The “Wild”, you cant name a team the ” Wild”. Hockey is a great sport, but the NHL is a terrible league, get rid of Garry Betman and put in somebody who knows about the game, not a lawyer from New York.

HEHE. I think you’re venting Dar. I don’t mind the teams south of Jersey as long as the fans show up. Tampa Bay for example, sell out games. On the other hand (I forget who it was back in 2004) had half an arena full for a playoff game. WHAT THE? If you get half an arena for a playoff game you should be kicked out of the league. I actually think it was Jersey to tell you the truth — and they had a good team.

Tampa Bay only sells out when they give their tickets away with a car wash :)
