A Childhood Revelation

Out after one of my team’s slopitch games I made a shocking revelation about a childhood sitcom that I never watched because I didn’t “understand it”.

You see, the show that I didn’t watch was Pingu and it was on here on a station called TVOntario. A station that I rarely ever watched growing up and still don’t as I really don’t know what they broadcast.

Now enough with backstory. Basically I never watched the show as I thought it was in French — as in Canada we have both languages and TV channels that broadcast in both — at this outing with the ball team however I was told the character simply just made “noises”. Now does this make me ignorant to the French language or am I just totally stupid in not realizing that this Penguin on the TV was making noises and wasn’t a French show. I really don’t know.

So for those of you out there who were like me, Pingu isn’t French, the show originally was a Swiss cartoon. The noises aren’t French either but what the write-ups refer to as “Penguinese”.

Okay, even now knowing that it’s just “sounds” when I woke up this morning Pingu was on YTV (around 930 I think it was the little filler between shows). Or it could have been Treehouse I don’t know, I was just flipping. And I still think he’s French. Or at least making noises with a French accent.
