Sin City - Now On DVD

Well today is the day folks. My favourite movie of the year has come out on DVD — although I’m not getting it. SAY WHAT?

It’s true. I love the movie and want to watch it again and again but I’m holding out until December for the extended version to come out or whatever they want to call it for those DVD extras that I “might” watch. The version out today has the movie in all of it’s cinematography glory but with only a 10-minute feature on the making of the movie so I’m waiting.

But with that being said if you haven’t checked it out yet go rent it or buy it but as a warning it’s either a love or hate movie. Even if you hate it however you have to enjoy the movie simply for it’s look. Also it stays true to the comics with the cheesey dialog and everything.

I’m in the process of reading the graphic novels right now. I’ve read the first three: the Hard Goodbye (originally just Sin City), A Dame to Kill For (featured in Sin City 2 — starting filming in January 06) and The Big Fat Kill. All three are great. Sin City “the movie” features graphic novels 1, 3 and 4 with the time frames over lapping etc. Just go check it out will ya.

Hartigan: And after I pull off that miracle, maybe I’ll go punch out God.

Hartigan: When it comes to consoling 19-year-old girls, I’m about as expert as a palsy patient performing brain surgery with a pipe wrench.

Dwight: It’s time to prove to your friends that you’re worth a damn. Sometimes that means dying, sometimes it means killing a whole lot of people.

Robert Rodriguez is a genius. The Mexico one w/ Depp will be a forever favourite. Sin City was a true adaptation of the genre, but man…talk about violent.

Yeah the violence was a little crazy and I’m sure that’s the main part that turned people off (I know some for a fact). But they did like the way it looked and how it seemed just like a comic book with the cars flying over the hills and rounding the corners and everything.

Reading the “graphic novels” now and the movie matches them spot on it’s crazy. The second book, A Dame To Kill For (which the 2nd movie is based on as well as a new story being written featuring Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba mmmm)) is a pretty good read. I read it about 2 months ago now so don’t remember it exactly but I know I liked it.

Dwight (Clive Owen) with his “old face” and Marv (Mickey Rourke) are both featured in it from memory as well as some other “returning” cast people.

I, too am a “wait for the director’s cut/extended version/box set” kind of person…so I, too will be waiting patiently to purchase this gem…

Nice link slackhopper. When reading I was amazed at how much actually transferred over etc. Also in the pics it’s shocking how close Rosario Dawson matched the character that is in the comics.
