First Client Site Up

Well it’s been a long time coming but I finally have my first client site “live” and we just went up about 5 minutes ago. I must say I have mixed feelings on it though however. The design started way back in January then the site was cancelled do to lack of cooperation on the clients behalf. A new student union then came into place in May and discussions began again about the web site and what they wanted. After some minor tweaks to the user interface all is pretty much the same.

After staring at this thing for 8 months and seeing my skills progress more and my knowledge of coding grow even more in that time I think if I were to redo the site that it could be better. But that’s me looking back at things. I usually get sick of layouts/designs I make after a week or two and this is usually a good thing as it keeps me striving to do better and move on.

The client was Algoma Univeristy Students’ Union and the site is “dynamic” in that it is controlled by a “Content Management System” which allows users to log into a backend system and add the different information to the site themselves. I think I did a fair job of coding the CMS as the President of AUSU was able to add the content with some assistance through instant messenger - we weren’t able to get into contact in person but the CMS was understandable enough for him to pick it up.

Now that they are out of the way it’s time to bust Murderfly Multimedia open and get some of the other new sites and redesigns off the ground.
