Rock Star: INXS - Oh Canada

For those of you who hate reality TV (cough cough Darcy) this will be the final “Rockstar” post as the finale was on tonight. And looky here the Canadian won.

It’ll seem like hindsight now but from when I started watching it seemed like JD was one of the top “rockers” on the show and I thought he was one of the favourites to win. He would take the regular song and rearrange it, make it his own and it seemed like INXS liked this, even if he failed a couple of times. I think he sealed it when he wrote “Pretty Vegas” using the track INXS laid down for the “rockers” to work with. INXS seemed to love the song every time it was performed and it’s a possible addition to the CD coming out in November. I guess we’ll see.

One last thing, Brooke Burke ended by saying “send in your tapes and maybe next year you’ll be up here”. What the hell? This is one show that CAN’T repeat. If it works for INXS great but lets not start resurrecting other bands who’ve lost singers/guitarists/drummers etc.

PS: Check out Sault Orleans if you’re in the area tomorrow (Wednesday Sept 21)

    Hey Curt,
Marty was my favourite, and I still think he was the most interesting and riveting “rock star,” but I have to admit that during the final performances, JD sounded best singing INXs songs. Good choice, INXs.

I watched it late, taped, because of Writers Festival duties. Gosh. life is busy lately.

Tomorrow…today…I must fake being a football fan (another book launch)

    P.s. Barry Callaghan is amazing…

Ya hopefully this show doesnt create a series of ” Rock Star: Nirvana” or ” Rock Star:Doors”. Enough is enough… Reality T.V must go.

I agree. Though I enjoyed the show because of the talent, it just feels way to commercial a way to put together (or re-put together) a band. Plus…I really, really hate getting sucked into reality TV and don’t want it to happen again. I may have to destroy my TV….

Jes actually made a comment before the show was even on about them doing a “Rock Star: Nirvana” and I said NO. That just wouldn’t be right. Stop here all is good.

And to get things straight Survivor and Amazing Race AREN’T reality TV right? They are game shows I tell ya, game shows!

I definitely think he nailed it with the “Pretty Vegas” song. It was so good and I sang it the next day. Just could not get it out of my head. I think it helped him to be in the bottom three alot, so we could actually hear him sing INXS. Mig never got too much of a chance. I think Mig nailed the one and only INXS song he sang last week. It was moving. All of these guys will be stars. JD might have done better on his own as a solo than with a band, but somehow, I think it might help him to have others push him to get something done. As a solo, he might not take the time to learn the words or get everything together. The band can really help him in that area. I don’t see how they can repeat this show either? JD will stay with them longer than a year, I hope. Who knows, the Bachelors never stayed together that long.

    Hey thanks for visiting.

It would kind of be funny/sad if the next one is “Rock Star: INXS - JD Didn’t Work Out” but as far as another band I just can’t see it. They seem to be promoting another season a lot too as everything on their main site is about sending in video tapes.

I’d be interested in seeing what some of the “rockers” do afterwards, moreso Marty with the Love Hammers and Jordis to see where she ends up, I liked her sound even though she fell apart a bit as the show ran on.
