Sault Orleans: A Storming Good Concert

Following is my brief summary of the concert Sault Orleans.
The show was simply great a featured a wide range of musical acts that anyone in attendance should have liked. It’d be too much of a challenge listing the complete list of music that appeared but everyone was great. The highlight of the concert was probably when “the storm” hit the big tent on the waterfront and the rain and wind were soaking us even though we were in a “shelter”. This all happened during the MalContents performance and they kept playing on as the wind and rain was blowing sideways through them, the gear and the stage as any musician not playing and George the sound guy ran frantically to cover up any exposed gear.
The bad part about the storm is that it also prevented people from coming out and made a few people leave as well. I’m thinking some people who weren’t there yet might have thought the concert was cancelled as power was knocked out in a couple locations in town as well.
I’m not sure how much has been “officially” raised but the United Steelworkers Local 2251 donated $5000 in a presentation near the end of the night.
During the set changes video presentations and PSAs by local politicians, our representatives in provincial and national government and the organizers were shown on a large screen which help add a special feeling to the event.
I’d like to congratulate the organizes, the bands, the people serving the food and working the event for a job well done.
My review is somewhat lame so for other “reviews” check out the following:
