Insurance: The Final Frontier

Late last week I was contacted by the insurance broker that I have been dealing with for the past month or so in Toronto. She informed me that she had a different company who was willing to provide insurance for me but they needed proof that I had five years experience in the field as the business is new. Luckily for me I spent 4.5 years obtaining a degree in Computer Science and also registered this business last December which made me qualify for the 5 year stipulation.

Early this week I received my quotation and a form to fill out as well as 3 separate payment solutions that I had to choose from — upfront, 3 equal monthly payments (made first three months), or financing through them. I chose the 3 equal payments as it is the most feasible for me at the moment as I have about half the money needed for the complete insurance in the bank and I can hopefully get the rest in the upcoming months through work.

You have probably already assumed what I am going to say next — Ladies and Gentleman I now have insurance WOOHOO!

It’s been a long road but I sent off the final paperwork today and I should be receiving some of the info through email tomorrow. I have to finalize some more details first (the top secret sort) before I receive the actual confirmed official documents in the mail. The even better part is my final “cost” of the insurance is half the cost of “initial/estimate quotes” I was receiving dealing with other companies.

What does all this mean? It means I can now FOCUS on the business (hopefully) and get my ass in gear pumping out some web sites (I do need to pay for insurance now :S).

So guys waiting on sites expect to hear from me soon (thanks for being so patient) and anyone interested in a site, please hold for two or so weeks then have your people call my people so our people may get together to discuss things ;)

So to IQ-I Insurance based in Toronto, ON and mainly to Colette, thank you kindly for all your hard work and understanding.

You don’t have people, Curt. You probably just desguise your voice when people first call, and put them on hold for effect.

Oh wait, is Domino answering phones now?

Good work buddy, all you had to do was find someone who didnt hear “Web” and “Music” in the same sentence and envision multi-million dollar lawsuits!

Good job Curt, you didnt have to resort to making porn sites to get insured. Too bad!!!!
