Domino's Two Faces at Hiawatha
On Saturday we took Domino to Hiawatha (a conservation area with trails and water and other “naturey” things) as it was supposed to be one of the last nice days before Old Mr. Winter comes and visits. It was also the first day with the new camera and in the initial stages, I love it. I still need work with it but I love it.

The above pictures were taken about mid-journey and the second one makes me laugh every time I see it. These pictures were taken in sequence and they pretty much show the ever changing facial expressions of Domino.

Before these shots however and on one of the paths just after we climbed a fairly steep hill something happened which Jes likes to call “the funniest thing she’s ever seen”. There wasn’t many people around this day so we had Dom off his leash and allowed him to run around as he usually doesn’t wonder far, he just finished taken a poop and some people were approaching so we were preparing to releash him just so that he wouldn’t go crazy. Jes was holding the camera at this time and I was holding the lovely bag of steaming puppy poop as well as trying to get the leash back onto Domino, this wasn’t going to happen. I then put the bag down so I could use two hands, one to hold Domino’s collar and the other to attach the leash, this also didn’t work and then the “fun” began.

Domino broke free from my grasp bolted towards the bag of fresh puppy poop, grabbed it, then bolted down the hill that we just finished climbing. I then started to run after him as I didn’t want a couple of things happening, mainly Domino running too far away and secondly Domino tearing a whole in the poop bag and getting it all over. I wouldn’t have been too happy with a puppy smeared in poop. I would have loved to show a picture of the “chase” but Jes was laughing too hard as she watched me chase Domino for a good 100 yards through the trails and into a bushy area trying to wrestle the bag away from him. I only caught him because when he went into one bushy area he tripped on a twig and the bag flew out of his mouth.

We’re hoping to get him out there a couple more times before the snow comes and after that we’re still unsure on where we’ll walk him but he’s getting better on the walks now and they really help calm him down which is a good thing.

That is one fine looking hound, Curt! Wonderfully saucy too, by the sounds of it :-)

Oh man. I still laugh my ass off just thinking about it.
