That’s Some Great Butt

On Christmas Eve Day we took Domino to Bellevue Park in a sort of an impromptu outing. The path out to Topsail Island was nicely plowed but a little soft with the warmer temperatures we’ve been getting the past couple of days. As we made it out to the island we ran into a group of about 8-10 dogs who are always out there and running around playing with each other. Dom was unsure of what to do. He’s comfortable with dogs smaller than him but any dog taller than him he runs away and hides behing either Jes or I. After talking with the owners for a bit (Domino was still on his leash) and informing them that he just turned six months that day they said we should let him run free with the other dogs to see what he’d do.

We were a little hesitant on this because Dom likes to do his own thing. We assumed right away that he’d just run in the operate direction and not come back. Sort of like what he does when he gets out of the yard. We were wrong though as his new game was chasing a Jack Russell Terrier around who was chasing a ball. It was pretty funny to watch as Dom would be barking the whole time he would be chasing and no other dog would make a sound. When Dom finally caught the Jacky he’d sniff its butt then in what can only be termed as “eeewww” he’d lick the other dog’s butt. And this wasn’t a one time occurrence either everytime he caught the Jacky the same thing would happen.

He certainly is his “own dog” doing his “own thing”.

But I still love him.
