Key Day

The day is finally here. We get the keys to the new house today to start a month long (or longer) clean/reno project before we move in. There’s tonnes of stuff that we need to do and need to plan for that we’ve kept putting off.

Things that I know that we are doing/needs to be done:

  • sand/refinish all the hardwood floor (entire house)
  • pull up the uggo kitchen floor and see what’s underneath, if it’s hardwood and in good shape we’re keeping it, if it’s not we’ll need tile or something
  • clean - the walls/ceiling definitely need a heavy cleaning
  • clean again (after the sanding etc)
  • paint the place — we still need to think of paint colours so if you have any sweet ideas for paint on walls that have darkish natural wood trim let us know
  • clean (I’m sure we’ll be doing this again
  • patch the ceiling
  • more our stuff in

And I think that’s everything “premove”. There’s stuff we want to do after we’re in there but that will come with the spring/summer and things like that. One key one is a new fence and deck.

A lot of the extra stuff for the house could become a possibility sooner than later now because of some potential good news which you’ll all get to hear about shortly I’m hoping.

I think if I missed anything Jes will happily fill it in.

    Yep

    Additional work:
-Paint inside closets and inside and outside kitchen cabinets
-Tear down wallpaper in all applicable rooms
-Replace front door and possibly side door
    -Get locks changed

Eggshell white is always a good colour……it accentuates the contrasts with the dark trim and also helps to brighten up the rooms and make them feel more open and warm……or so I hear….

    Eggshell white = boring

    I agree :)
I’m thinking a dark shade of yellow (gold kinda) for the giant living room, and that’s pretty much all I’ve decided at this point. I think possibly turqoise/neon blue for the kitchen to bright things up.
