A Lengthy Domino Update

It’s been awhile since I’ve really posted anything about the wonder pup so here goes.
To lead off another toy has bit the dust. This toy was called “Mean Kitty” and as you can see in the picture below Domino ripped his head off. After the decapitation I threw the kitty into the garbage basket in my office which is up off the ground but Domino still found it and dug the kitty out so we had to duct tape the head to save the stuffing from the insides. Domino then got the duct tape off the next day. Mean Kitty is no more.
Next up are a few crazy sleeping shots I took of Domino in the past couple of weeks. In the first picture the little silly basset hound got all stretched out (he does this often - look at his back legs) then started to pass out in between the hall and the office. The flash woke him up, I’m a horrible horrible person but hey, it’s a fun picture.
Next up I turned around in my chair as I knew Dom was on the futon sleeping as it was late at night and that’s his favourite sleep spot while I’m in the office however I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw him. He was completely out of it and hasn’t slept this way in a long time. Also check out his Elvis lip.
And that concludes the picture story.
Up now is Domino’s progress with me not at home in the mornings. With nobody home in the mornings for that matter. This week marked the first week where I have actually been to work out of the house (okay 2nd week for me) and nobody here to watch Domino. My mom was home last week to look after him in the mornings.
We’ve been keeping him closed in the kitchen/dining room areas so that he can’t really destroy much and if he does pee on the floor or have other “accidents” we’ll be able to clean it up easier than if on carpet. I think so far he’s been doing great. There’s been pee 3 of the 4 days so far but it’s still pretty good. He’s basically alone from just before 8 till just after 1 so that’s a long time for a pup not ready to “hold it”.
Today I forgot to close the hall door so Domino had full reign of the house while I was gone for the morning. At lunch when I came home I realized my mistake and was ready for the worst. But there was no “major” damage to speak of. Basically he chewed up my torn up mitts (helping me purge I guess) and he had the paper off of a 2L bottle of pop we gave him to chew on — he also peed on the stair landing but I’ll blame myself for that one.
He’s been super well behaved the past bit too. He gets quite jumpy when I come home but he usually calms down pretty quickly. And if you do decide to pay attention to him he’ll waste no time at all in finding one of his toys in order to play fetch, he can go on for hours I think just fetching stuff. He’s super cute doing it as well because if you sit on the floor he’ll grab stuff, bring it back to you then sometimes lay on your lap after he hands it to you or not hand it to you and just lay there chewing it. Such a crazy hound that’s for sure.
