Jodi Alton and the One Night Stand Band

This past Friday (Feb 10th) Jodi Alton played Loplops with an adhoc band comprised of Craig West (guitar, bass) and Felipe Basoalto (percussion). The show was billed as Jodi Alton Band and the “band” consisted of only Craig at first then he added Felipe into the mix. As this was only a one time occurrence (Jodi is from Canmore, Alberta and was just visiting) they stated near the end of the show that the new name was Jodi Alton and the One Night Stand Band so that is my title.
The show was great. I can’t sum it up more than that.
I had the Canon 20D in tow once again and used a “newer” method of shooting for me. Basically I would get ready for a shot and just start taking multiple shots of the same sort of pose etc to hopefully get one good picture out of the bunch. This worked here and there and I did come up with some good photos so I’ll probably keep trying this out until I get even more comfortable with the camera. It’s frustrating still for me to see what could have been a good shot get killed by blur either caused by movement on stage or camera shake on my part. Stupid camera shake.
Anyway I ended up taking over 160 photos (totalling over 500 MB) and choppsed that down to about 60 or so for the gallery and realistically only about 30 (or less) of those are really good shots for any sort of outside of this gallery use. But I guess that is still a good percentage anyway.
To end I’ll quote Mr. West on the night “Just because it’s acoustic doesn’t mean it has to be geriatric.” (after playing the Cranberries song Zombie which was 1 of 4 covers on the night with the rest being originals).
Now onto the phots — Jodi Alton Band gallery.

EDIT: The other guitarist you see, man in black if you will is Graeme Cooper. Just thought you’d like to know that.

Thanks for the kind review, and for taking all those photos. It was a good gig, and musically speaking a great one night stand. Who knows, we might get together again. We talked about recording some stuff in the fall of 2006, but we will see. Later. C.

Thanks Craig. Although my “review” was quite short. One line really. But if you take the old adage that a picture is worth a thousand words then I guess I have 60000 words about the show. Now that’s a lengthy review.
