Better Than Crabs

Well the weekend was busy to say the least.

Friday we moved the giant desk and some smaller items that were in the shed at my parents’ house to the new house — thanks for the assistance Anthony O. A friend from school a few years back was also in town for the night and it was great seeing him again and catching up in the short time that he was here. We went to Loplops to catch Big Wheel And The Spokes and they were awesome as usual.

Saturday saw Jes and I working another auction. It’s busy work and sometimes tiring as you’re on your feet all day and lifting a lot of crap in the air for people to see — on the bright side I can put “model” on my resume now. And people thought my super fantastic beard was ugly! It’ll soon sweep the nation, I promise. We also managed to get a nice dining room table and five chairs for $150 and a big box of miscellaneous beer type mugs for $1. WOOHOO for $1 mugs! I bid on the box mainly because of the A&W mug but there’s some other salvageable ones in there as well I’m sure the rest will probably go to Value Village or to anyone who needs a mug. Later on in the day we went to Staples to scope out desks as it’s a birthday present for my parents that we’ve been waiting on for the new house — we found one (see Sunday for more details). We also headed over to Winners and were able to grab all of our bathroom towels for a good price for the brand etc so we were pretty happy with that and who knew 6 towels, 4 face cloths and 3 hand towels were so freaking heavy.

Sunday saw a quiter day of sorts. My mother, aunt and I headed to Staples to buy the desk. Surprise surprise it is discontinued. We took the floor model even though it was a little banged up but got 25% off. The desk is good enough for now and a lot better than what I’m currently working on. Jes and her dad moved a lot of the stuff that Jes had stored at her place to the house as well so the house is starting to become “full” in the sense that there is now furniture in rooms etc. We assembled the desk in the office (only had to attach the 3 giant pieces as it was the floor model and we simply took them off then stuffed it in the van) and now the office is near completion as it has the 2 desks and a carpet we just need our electronics and bookshelves and we should be set. We also headed “over the river” (which means to the United States for those not familiar with Sault Ste. Marie ;)) to see if we could find any deals there for the house. We ended up snagging some linens for the bed and a couple of picture frames that we plan putting up in the dining room — contents of the frames will be pictures of Domino and Fozzie of course.

I’m sure more happened but that’s the jest of it. The house is still coming along and we think the kitchen floor will be done by Wednesday which means all that is left is the painting. We’ll be moving in soon (I think HAHA).
