A Busy Weekend

It’s been a bit since I’ve posted but we’ve been busy with some house things and I think we’ve got a lot accomplished although it doesn’t look like it.
The Leaves.
To say our yard had leaves in it would be an understatement, the front yard wasn’t too bad but the back yard was a different story. While raking the backyard our neighbour to the side informed us that he doesn’t think it was done for a couple of years at least, we believed him — 18 large brown Canadian Tire yard bags later and there are still leaves out back/front to rake up before Spring pickup but the yard is looking better. One thing we noticed after we cleaned up all the leaves however (as they were basically a carpet in the backyard) is there is no grass EGADS we now need to plant some seed to try to grow grass.
The Fence.
We had a somewhat wire fence surrounding the backyard. I say somewhat as it was practically falling over in spots and I was able to break off some of the support boards with one hand. Yes I know I’m a macho macho man and all but still one hand for a support board is somewhat sad. Equipped with a pair of plyers and my macho man hands I began cutting the wires down and pulling apart the boards and pulling the posts out of the ground to clear the horrible wire fence out of the way. There are only two small areas left and I plan to tackle them sometime this week. Tearing down a fence is good therapy to get out “I hate my job” frustrations.
The Dogs.
I think Domino is getting used to his new digs. He’s better on the chain and doens’t get stuck as much but we still need to get a fence up ASAP. We brought him for a long walk through the Sault Canal and Whitefish Island on Saturday then to visit Fozzie and the rest of the pups. Domino was well behaved and let the pups do whatever they wanted to him, we’re hoping the same holds true for when Fozzie comes home next week but we can see some possible territorial fights going on. Last night we took Dom for an exceptionally long walk and his leg held up pretty good, no limping and we went for about 1.5 to 2 HRS. While at an open area on our way to Bellevue Park I decided to see if Dom would fetch like he does at home with his tire and ball. I grabbed a stick, let go of the leash and threw it. Dom went off running in the direction of the stick and I was shocked that he was doing it. He then jumped the stick and just kept running, he’s turning out to be quite the good little master of trickery for escapes. At the start of the walk he got away from us and bolted out into traffic on a busy street, thankfully the truck coming down the hill saw him in time and stopped and there was a woman on the other side of the road to grab him. I dove the best I could to try to grab his leash but came up short, stupid diving. Today was 3rd nut removal day and Dom has been pretty dopey since coming back from the vet, we took him for a mini walk and he was great the entire way, he’s been out of it since getting back however.
The Vacuum.
We bought one of those fancy Dyson “we always suck” vacuum cleaners specifically designed to pick up dog hair last week and picked it up on Monday. So far so good. I do quite the good impression (in my own mind) of the “Dyson guy” as well.
The Photography.
I forgot to add this so here it is now. Saturday night I took some shots of Craig and Shane at Bottoms Up a newer bar in the Sault. A few turned out okay but most were crap. I’ll put up a mini gallery in a couple of days.
