Taxes Are Due.. Say What?

Well in the fashion of leaving everything to the last minute I signed the papers to send off my taxes today with a solid two days to spare. Unfortunately I went the Chartered Accountant route and ended up paying $80 to get them done (he’s also doing the business’ taxes as well as I assumed they need to be done too).

A couple of sad points. Shouldn’t you have in income for the year to have to do income taxes? I worked one job where I received a paycheck for one week. FANTASTIC!

Sadder point. I had to pay a freaking CA to do my taxes for that one job. But hey, I get money back and there’s nothing wrong with that.

And as a reminder to any fellow procrastinating Canadian out there — your taxes are due on Sunday.

For ONCE in my life, I have got mine done EARLY. I used to be so envious of the people that didn’t have that panicked look on their faces, wondering what it feels like to have all that crap already taken care of while the rest of us keep putting it off. Guess what? It FEELS GREAT!

    ….sorry…

Hey, for 50 bucks, I’ll pester you every day starting Feb. 1st, 2007 until you file, or until you drop a brick on my head.

Well usually it wasn’t too bad and done early but then again I was always in school so my parents took care of it. Simply too busy this year with house, work etc and just not wanting to do them.

But I’ll gladly drop a brick on your head ;)

I did mine myself about mid February on the QuickTax website. It was free because I got money back and I had them done and efiled in under an hour. About two weeks later there was a nice big fat cheque in my bank account .

The secret of my success… dependants and low income.

We’re not quite starving any more, though we have, but there is not a hope in hell I could ever save enough money to buy a house, retire or put either of my girls through school.

    Sure makes taxes easy though.

They’re done…but I still have to sign the form to have them magically e-whisked away to revenue Canada. Thanks for the reminder!

Bah, mine are late. Who cares?? As if the government WANTS to send me my refund… they’re happy I procrastinate. :)
