June 10, 2006 - Dragon Boat Races

Saturday June 10, 2006 brought me to wonderful Topsail Island in Sault Ste. Marie to catch some of the dragon boat festivities. I was there to support the local music that was being featured on their stage but unfortunately took off during Jay Case’s set as it was freaking cold out there. Case is featured fully bundled up in the photo gallery but that’s the only musical act I caught (he’s also on one of the boats — can you find him?). Sorry guys.
Above is Team Loplops pulling out to their first heat win. As you can probably tell from the galleries I frequent Loplops frequently to shoot some shots of local musicians (some of which are on that crazy boat). As a side note all pictures of boats with a file name img_3705 and lower are of Team Loplops (yes I’m too lazy to go through and “properly” name everyone).
Above is Team PUC. They power paddled their way into 2nd place during their first heat of the day and are lucky to be featured in the photo gallery as they were Jes‘ place of employment. They are the pictures of the boat that is not Team Loplops in the gallery (notice the PUC team are all wearing blue bandanas).
