Addiction Reignited: Golf Is Back

This weekend my employer had a company golf tournament.Ã? Before I became busy with trying to run my own business (aka no income) and working for the man I used to enjoy the game of golf quite a bit.Ã? I wasn’t ever really great at it but I wasn’t truly bad so it was a happy medium.
This weekend was the first time out again since April of last year. How I missed the game so.
I hit a bucket of balls on the range yesterday and lo and behold my crazy left handed slice was almost obsolete, it was still there but not at the point of having to aim in the opposite direction to get the ball in the fairway.Ã? Today before the round I decided to hit another bucket just to get a swing down again — Ross came out midway through and I asked him about some things and we tried correcting some things here and there.Ã? Never try to correct your swing before a round, it may call for disastor.
We then headed out for our round.Ã? The first couple of holes started out quite bad — my slice came back and my pitching/short game became a really short game.Ã? I quickly turned it around on the greens and midway through the rest of the game came back — to the level my game is at anyway.
Hole 1 came up for us (we started on hole 3) and this hole was the longest drive hole.Ã? I had Hank in my grouping and assumed he’d just crush the ball and get the longest drive easy (for those who don’t know Hank is about 1 3/4 of a Curt, or maybe even 2 Curts).Ã? Hank hit his ball deep but in the bush, another guy with us did the same thing but opposite side.Ã? My turn was next and I probably hit my best shot ever, almost straight and bounced it past the current longest drive marker, I was now in the lead and with 2 golfers behind us was pretty confident in getting the title.Ã? And I did — who would have thought, the skinniest guy on the course (I’m sure I at least had to be close to this) won the longest drive.
I finished off the hole pretty good too and also had a solid putt on the last hole — what does all this mean?Ã? I want out more, I need to golf more.Ã? Unfortunately the season is winding down but hopefully there’s still some weekends left to get out.
I’m addicted and I need to golf.

Having an addiction to golf is still a healthy addiction.
You could be addicted to worse things like reality TV

I’m glad you had a good time and all… but… really: any sport that makes a clergy member swear like a sailor can NOT be all that much “fun”. Seriously, is it the aggravation factor that makes golf so addicting?!

Les it’s actually the opposite. Golf is addicting because you can suck your entire round but you will still hit that one good shot that makes it all worth it and keeps you coming back. For me yesterday I basically stunk up the first part of the course (except for putting which I’m usually good at) and then on our 2nd last hole I hit that nice drive and it made it all worth it (I also hit a nice approach shot after that too which really got me hooked).
I think it’s different for each person but I’m pretty sure it’s that “one shot” that keeps people coming back.

Golf is like crack except you don’t ever find yourself robbing your parents or old people just to play another round of golf. Well, often anyway.

I’d like to point out that even though I did not win the longest drive contest I did get closest to the pin (aka only person to hit the green)

Speaking of that — here’s something I don’t understand. If no one else hit the green — which pretty much means everyone else was in the water how did teams still finish at +3. They’d have to sink a pitch to hold par on that hole and based on the greens on most others I’m smelling something fishy — maybe we’re the only teams taking penalty strokes
Bahwell. We won stuff anyway because we’re awesome.

just because they didn’t stay on the putting surfice does not mean they went in the water….chip and a putt for par

Did you see how the majority of them were playing? And with those greens anything outside of a 8 footer was near impossible.
It’s more of a fact Hank and I just wanted to clean sweep all the awards.

I don’t like what you’re implying here…. you calling me a cheater… lol. Actually, my team started on that stupid water hole, so naturally I wasn’t warmed up yet, and launched it well over the green. We were just lucky enough to have a female on the team who could get it close enough to the green to allow us for an easy chip & put for par. As for the putting, believe it or not, but we actually made 3 decent puts, 2 being 15 ft or more. Some people call it luck, but I call it skill
It was a good time… had some good laughs at the expense of others golfing abilities
You’ll have to get across the river golfing… you can golf 18 w/ cart for like $25…. can’t beat that.

To be honest, I actually feel sorry for Hank during the tourny, he shot the +5, he was golfing with two people who never golfed before. The worse part is he was at +2 heading into our last two holes then drove it onto the road HAHA.
And you’re last part there… are you offering to pay?
Because that’s what it seems like you’re implying to me.
