blogelation: Bon Soo Opening Ceremonies

Last night was the opening ceremonies of Bon Soo.� Scheduling for us just worked out and we were able to make it down to the Roberta Bondar Pavillion just before the fireworks were about to go off.
In case you weren’t outside last night it was quite cold. I had all of my gear with me (lenses, camera bag, tripod) and was trying to set it up before my hands froze and the fireworks began. Just as I extended the tripod the fireworks started. They were not in the location I thought they would be in but a couple of quick adjustments and I was set to start shooting.
As you can see in the shot above I wasn’t in a prime position like I was for the Fourth of July fireworks — my better fireworks pictures if you ask me.
The grounds were crowded and people were rushing here and there as the fireworks were going off. This caused the tripod to get knocked a couple of times as well as having people stand in front of the lens resulting in me moving to have a cleaner shot. It also seemed that the fireworks were either being shot far left or far right and not in the middle of where I was aiming so a number of my pictures are half of fireworks (once again, like the shot above).
We didn’t stay after the fireworks as it was just too cold. The people who were there seemed to be having a good time; Elvis was on stage singing away and there were many lineups of children waiting to get on the inflatables.
We’re hoping to get out to a couple more events weather permitting. We realized today around 11:45 that we missed the dog pull contest for the 2nd year in a row — it started at 11 AM today.

Mandora, maybe a mini shot.
Ludger - I don’t think we can see them from our place, too many trees and other houses in the straight line of site. Although I know you can hear them loudly as Dom peed in our upstairs hallway during the Fourth of July fireworks in the summer (we were camping during July 1 so I have no idea how those were).
