12 Musicians of Christmas - Ed Young

The 12 Musicians of Christmas featured Ed Young (above), Jay Case, Craig West, Frank Deresti, Rachelle Deresti, Al Wood, Mark Kuntsi, Sheldon Jaaskelainen, Cliff Alloy, Lindsay Pugh, Patti Goodwin and Catherine Taddo. The show was quite exceptional and the camera was in full swing taking a total of 552 pictures and running through my battery — I quickly charged it just enough to get through the rest of the new between a couple of set changes. The selection of photos for display here will be coming in bunches as there would be just too many to actually go through for one gallery.

Many Photo Galleries On Their Way

Posted in Music / Photography by Cujo
December 29th, 2006 - 2:30 PM

This week has been busy to say the least. I have many photo gallery updates coming in the next couple of days starting with the Granola People’s CD release gallery, then multiple galleries for the 12 Musicians of Christmas show which happened last night. The show was incredible and the variety of music, instruments and musicians was a sight to see. Words honestly can’t describe it.

To the musicians who performed, thanks for a great night of music.

Gates of Winter - Live at Loplops - Dec 23 2006

Saturday night saw a triple bill hit Loplops featuring Gates of Winter (above), IT and Startlefish.

By the time I was ready to shoot Gates of Winter announced they were about to play their last song. I rushed trying to get some shots of them so they are very limited in the gallery.

Gorillapod

Today Jes surprised me with an early birthday present as we were going to bring the dogs to the park and it would have come in handy but the rain changed our plans.

Pictured above is the Gorillapod from Joby. The Gorillapod is in essence a tripod but with the traditional tripod thinking turned on its head.

Gravy - Live at Loplops - Dec 19 2006

For the first time ever, Gravy has been caught on film*. Not the Gravy you’re used to but the new installment of promiscuous Sault musicians. Named after Frank’s favourite drink and Lindsay’s favourite meal Gravy can be described as an experimental band. I say that because I really don’t know what an experimental band is and I really don’t know what Gravy is.

Startlefish CD Release - Live at Loplops - Dec 18 2006

Last night was Startlefish’s CD release party for The Debtor’s Heart, their second CD. Original plans for secret locations and mystery murders of audience members were put on hold as transportation and hitmen fell through at the last minute. However a solid show was put on for the appreciative audience.

This week’s project is for submissions on Reviews (of the last year) and predictions (for the year to come) and to top it off there are some sweet prizes drawn at random for those who submit (it’s open to anyone).

So check out the new ProBlogger group writing project.

And if you really feel like it, check out my own group writing project (photography project). I don’t have prizes though.

CD Release - Startlefish - The Debtor’s Heart

Everyone’s favourite band with a fish name is releasing their second CD this Monday (that just might be today or already happened depending on when you’re reading this). The CD has been in the works since early summer and is finally ready to make it’s debut just in time to be the perfect stocking stuffer for all the music fans out there.

The party will be starting off at Loplops for the low price of a $10 ticket (which also acts as $10 off the purchase of the CD) and is reportedly being moved to a top secret location after that — I’ll assume it’s the creepy run down shack near the river but that’s just me maybe it’ll be somewhere else, like a giant tent or maybe the Steelback Centre.

At this point I think tickets are still available so check out Craig’s blog or the story Slackhopper wrote on Sootoday for more information.

EDIT - And quicker than a hiccup (what?) Craig has updated his site shortly after my post with new details regarding the release party. There’s no longer a secret location but I’m sure it’ll still be fun.
